How long does a crick in the neck last?

Most neck pain resolves in one to two weeks with the at-home remedies mentioned above. Pain may come and go, and it may feel temporarily worse with certain activities, but gentle movement and activity is still very important. If neck pain persists for several months, it may be a sign that there’s another factor playing into neck pain, such as arthritis, stress, or sleep issues. Just remember: No matter what the cause of your neck pain is, it isn’t something you’re “stuck” with. There are always things you can do to get relief and feel better.

- Difficulty moving your arms or legs  
- Loss of bladder or bowel control
- Headache with nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to light
- Unexplained weight loss, fever, or chills

Can you ‘pop’ a crick in your neck?

Popping or cracking joints, including your neck, is not bad for you and it doesn’t harm your joints. If you’re moving and stretching your neck and it happens to pop or crack, there’s no reason for concern. If, however, you’re tempted to crack your neck because it feels good, it may be a signal that your body is craving some stretching and exercise therapy.
